About Me

Julia GibsonI became interested in homeopathy in 1996 after a series of traumatic life events left me ill with glandular fever and I benefited from good treatment. I realised that only I was responsible for my own health.

After meeting a mum who was a homeopath at a toddler group, I took a part time course in homeopathy for acute illnesses and first aid and my interest grew.

I studied at the North West College of Homeopathy in Manchester, graduating in 2007. I am a member of the Society of Homeopaths and bound by their Code of Ethics and Practice.

My background is in sociology and legal and financial administration.

I live and work in Didsbury in Manchester and am married with two children.

What is homeopathy?

Homeopathy (also spelled homoeopathy) is a holistic therapy which draws on the theory that similia similibus curantur (like cures like). This was developed by Samuel Hahnemann in the 19th century.

Remedies are made from many different natural substances - plants, animals and minerals and a specific remedy will be selected to match your specific symptoms. A well chosen remedy will build health by stimulating the body into healing itself.

The actual remedies are highly diluted versions of the original substance so the dose is minute. It is made potent by shaking a dilution to release the essence.

Your consultation and treatment.

The first consultation will take in between an hour and a half and two hours. It will take into account all the details of your life; likes, dislikes, emotions as well as physical ailments so I can really build a picture of you as a person and treat you holistically.

Follow up consultations take place at around 6 week intervals and last about 45 minutes to 1 hour . It is not unusual to experience an aggravation of existing symptoms, a return of old symptoms or an increase in discharges at first. All of these are good signs and shows that the body is doing some spring cleaning before moving onto a more curative state.
